The St. James’s Palace Memorandum
The St. James’s Palace Memorandum is a short document representing the views of participants on the challenge of climate change and the responses required by the scientific community as well as by government, business and society more generally.
It was formulated during the Symposium, and was presented and discussed on the final morning, with responses and comments from a number of stakeholder groups as well as the Laureates and climate experts. It was then publicly signed by the Laureates and climate experts, in the presence of HRH The Prince of Wales.
The document is designed to have a significant impact on the international climate negotiations including the UN Copenhagen Climate Change Conference and wider bilateral and multilateral discussions, as well as in specialist communities and the wider public. The text was made publicly available on the final day of the Symposium.
